Corporate Matching Gifts
Many companies offer a matching gift program that will significantly amplify what you have given. Matching gifts from your employer are credited to your giving record.
Every organization has its own policies and matching gift forms, so be sure to check with your company’s human resources department. If you are retired, you may also be eligible.
To find out if your company offers gift matching, ask your human resources representative. If your company offers this benefit, ask a human resources representative from your company to send you a matching gift form or look for it on your company’s human resource website. You may email the completed form to Holly Steuerwald at [email protected] if your company allowed this method of submittal. Otherwise, please mail the completed form with your gift to:

Contributions from IRAs
If you are 70½ or older you may be interested in a way to lower the income and taxes from your IRA withdrawals. A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an IRA account is a way you can support the College. Donors typically avoid taxes on transfers, satisfy all or part of their required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year and reduce their taxable income. Consult with your IRA plan administrator and tax advisor for more details.
Please contact the Foundation Office at (704) 922-6511 when you authorize a QCD to the Foundation. In some cases, IRA administrators require a copy of the Foundation’s Determination Letter (see below) from the IRS before completing the distribution.
-
Stocks, Bonds, and Other Securities
The Gaston College Foundation accepts gifts of securities. In some cases, the giving of securities may mean significant tax benefits for the donor maximizing the effectiveness of the gift. Each transfer is case-specific and you should always consult your tax advisor for questions regarding the tax treatment of your gifts.
Please contact Luke Upchurch at (704)923-8405 for instructions on donating securities.
-
Planned Giving and Bequests
Making a bequest to Gaston College is an easy and uncomplicated process. Bequests of funds may be expended for current operations or directed to establish an endowment. An endowed fund is one that cannot be exhausted and is preserved in perpetuity, supplying a constant source of financial support. Funds established in honor, or in memory, of individuals continue to echo their legacy as income is awarded to deserving recipients or applied to critical programs on an annual basis.
Please see the Planned Giving Form below for more information.
-
Life Insurance
The Gaston College Foundation accepts donations of life insurance policies. The gifting of life insurance policies is a great way to leverage your charitable giving. If you have a life insurance policy that has outlasted its original purpose, consider making a gift of your insurance policy to Gaston College. Gaston College retains the policy to maturity, allowing the donor to receive additional tax benefits by making annual gifts to cover the cost of the premiums.
Donors may also choose to designate the Gaston College Foundation as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy. This will allow the donor to make use of the policy.
For more information using life insurance as a means of support Gaston College, please contact Luke Upchurch at (704) 923-8405
