Community + Running = Student Success
The Gaston College Foundation has been a proud participant in the Community Foundation of Gaston County’s annual 5k for many years. Proceeds from the run, which celebrated its 16th year this past April, benefit over 100 community organizations throughout Gaston County. Nearly $20 million has been raised for our community since the run’s inception.
Among the recipients of run generosity is the College’s Student Academic Emergency Fund. Over 500 students in need have been impacted positively by this fun community event over the past five years. Since 2014 alone, the Gaston College Foundation has realized nearly $30,000 in support for our most vulnerable students.
With over 100 organizations participating on race day, typically held the second Saturday in April of each year, runners, community booths, musical groups and student talent abounds in Downtown Gastonia around the Rotary Pavilion. More than 5,000 runners from far and wide take to the streets in support of their favorite cause.
Thank you Community Foundation of Gaston County for your continued support of the larger community, and specifically Gaston College!
